Health coaching does not replace medical care. As an NBC-HWC board certified functional medicine health coach, we work alongside your physician to address the lifestyle factors driving your condition. Your doctor manages diagnosis, medication, and monitoring. We address root causes through nutrition, sleep, stress, gut health, and movement that influence your trajectory.

A Board Certifed Health Coach (NBC-HWC) will never diagnose or prescribe, we  work alongside your licensed medical professional with:
Diabetes (Type 2, prediabetes, metabolic syndrome)
Autoimmune conditions (Hashimoto’s, Celiac, Crohn’s, lupus, rheumatoid arthritis)
Cardiovascular disease (high blood pressure, high cholesterol)
– PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome)
– Thyroid disorders
– Digestive issues (IBS, SIBO, inflammatory bowel disease)
– Chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia
– Depression, anxiety
– Most chronic health conditions

How It Works:

You continue with your licensed medical professional for diagnosis, medication management, and monitoring. We are experts in lifestyle modification and behavior change to address root causes of disease to optimize your health.

The Evidence: Lifestyle Can Outperform Medication

The landmark Diabetes Prevention Program, a National Institutes of Health study of 3,234 adults with prediabetes, found that intensive lifestyle intervention reduced the development of type 2 diabetes by 58 percent, compared to 31 percent for metformin. Lifestyle change nearly doubled the protective effect of medication. Follow-up over 22 years showed these benefits persisted, with the lifestyle group also experiencing 57 percent fewer eye complications, 37 percent fewer kidney complications, and 39 percent fewer major cardiovascular events.

Client Journey Example:

Maria*, 38, came to us already managing Hashimoto’s autoimmune thyroiditis with her endocrinologist. Despite consistent thyroid medication and “normal” lab numbers, she still felt exhausted, struggled with brain fog, gained weight she could not lose, and watched her thyroid antibodies climb year over year. Her doctor was managing her medication well. Nothing was managing the underlying autoimmunity.

As her NBC-HWC board certified functional medicine health coach, working in coordination with her endocrinologist, we built a 12-month protocol addressing the lifestyle factors driving her autoimmune response:

  • Gut healing nutrition: removal of gluten, dairy, and identified food sensitivities; introduction of bone broth, fermented foods, and prebiotic fiber (the gut houses approximately 70 percent of immune function)
  • Stress regulation: daily nervous system practices and consistent sleep optimization to lower inflammatory cortisol load
  • Nutrient repletion: targeted support for selenium, vitamin D, zinc, and omega-3 fatty acids, all critical for thyroid and immune function
  • Movement: strength training prioritized over high-intensity cardio to support metabolism without spiking stress hormones
  • Coordination with her medical team: regular lab reviews shared with her endocrinologist to inform medication adjustments

The result after 6 months: Better thyroid function on the same medication dose, antibody levels reduced significantly, energy restored.

The result after 12 months: Her endocrinologist reduced one medication. Antibody levels normalized. Maria described it as “finally feeling like the volume on  my body got turned back up.” She was not cured of Hashimoto’s, but her condition transformed from progressing to thriving.

Health Coaching Enhances Medical Care:

Functional medicine health coaching is designed to work WITH conventional medicine, not against it. Your health is a partnership between you, me, and your medical team.

What Makes the Difference:

Your medical team treats disease and manages diagnosis. We address the root causes (nutrition, sleep, stress, gut health, movement, and behavior) that influence whether your condition progresses, stabilizes, or improves. Together, we create transformation that neither approach alone can achieve.
